Who we are
Samuel Goathead (159?-1629) is the persona in which two friends wrote sonnets to their respective inamorata in Russian and English in 1970s Moscow. Together they subsequently founded the samizdat imprint Sam&Sam, which emerged from the underground in 1993 and published nearly forty books in Russia and England.
Since June 2025 the Goathead Press has been owned and managed exclusively by Patrick and James Miles in Cambridge, UK. It is an English publisher that sells its own books as well as those produced by other small presses. Sam&Sam is an exclusively Russian-owned imprint exclusively based in Russia.
